3   Link   The Corps of Sappers & Miners
The Corps has been founded on the principles of authenticity and recreating the life of the solider during the War of American Independence.

As the mission of the Corps in the 18th Century was the reconnaissance, construction and attack of fortified positions, we strive to constantly research and improve upon our abilities to preform these tasks.

“Rub and go was always the Revolutionary Soldiers motto...” as was reflected by Sgt. Joseph Plumb Martin, member of the Corps of Sappers and Miners from 1780-1783. The recreated Corps takes this motto to heart. When our 18th Century brethren made do or did without, we follow in their foot steps.

4   Link   Augusta County Militia
As our name implies the main impression of our organization is that of the people from Augusta County Virginia. For a long time in the 18th century reenactment community it's been felt that militia impressions were the simplest impressions and folks who simply didn't have a uniform could be labeled "militia". Militia impressions have also been viewed as one that didn't need to drill or act in a military manner because "after all they were only militia".

The ACM works very hard to break down these misconceptions and strive to be as accurate in our clothes and accoutrements as possible. We also keep a military bearing at events and can be seen doing drill, posting guards and other fatigue duty you would have seen in an 18th century military camp.

created in 2000 as a loosely-structured club primarily focused on recreating 18th-century fieldsports, foods and gaming. We soon discovered that there was a great deal of interest in other aspects of 18th-century life and living, and In 2002 our quarterly journal, The Society of 18th-Century Gentlemen’s Magazine, was begun as a means to share ideas and information on a broad range of 18th-century topics.
